EAEU introduces new anti-dumping duties on alloy wheels from four countries

The Collegium of the Eurasian Economic Commission has made a decision to introduce anti-dumping duties on the import of cast aluminum wheel rims from Japan, Thailand, Turkey, and Malaysia, according to a statement from the EEC.

Duties will be levied on the import of new and used disks with a diameter of 13-20 inches, both with and without a tire installed. The term of the new measures will be five years, and the tariff rate is set at 9.38-42.82% of the customs value and varies depending on the country of production.

It is reported that the decision was made following an anti-dumping investigation initiated by the Department of Protection of the Internal Market of the EEC on March 1, 2023, at the request of the "Association of Producers, Suppliers, and Consumers of Aluminum" and confirmed "the presence of dumped imports of goods from the aforementioned countries and material damage to the industry of the Eurasian Economic Union's economy".

The Commission's decision will come into force 30 calendar days from the date of its official publication.

"The pricing policy of cast aluminum wheel rim manufacturers from dumping countries has led to the fact that our own companies, in the face of losing market share, were unable to increase the selling price of the product in proportion to the growth of its production cost. As a result, their sales became unprofitable, and the production profitability became negative," noted Andrei Slepnev, Minister for Trade of the EEC.
