Hankook's subsidiary will release "smart" glasses
The company Model Solution, which offers various high-tech products and belongs to the Hankook & Company Group, has signed an agreement with the firm Virnect, which specializes in artificial intelligence (AI) and extended reality (XR) technologies, under which they will jointly develop "smart" glasses at the MS plant in Puchon, South Korea.
According to MS, it is planned to design and launch mass production of a new augmented reality device that can be worn like glasses and used in various industries, such as the production of semiconductors and displays, as well as in the biotechnology industry. MS will develop and manufacture the device itself, while Virnect will be responsible for creating the user interface and various applications.
"The partnership agreement with Virnect, which specializes in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and extended reality technologies, will give our companies the opportunity to offer both hardware and software in this area," said Woo Byung-gil, CEO of MS. "As a result of the cooperation, we will be able to present innovative devices oriented to the global market."
Model Solution is engaged, in particular, in the development of AO for smartphones, laptops, and other mobile communication devices, and its partners include more than 1,000 companies around the world, including tech giants Google, Amazon, Samsung, and LG.
Currently, MS is developing, among other things, the MS-AR20SE augmented reality helmet, which is currently being tested at Hankook's tire plants in Gumsan (South Korea) and Clarksville (Tennessee, USA). It is noted that the helmet has all the functions necessary for use in industrial enterprises, and in the future, its functionality may be improved using Virnect technologies.
