Dealers are offering to oblige to sell cars with seasonal tires

In Russia, it is proposed to obligate car dealerships to sell cars with seasonal tires, and a corresponding letter has been sent to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, with the proposal being made by Anton Shaparin, Vice-President of the National Automobile Union, reports SHOT.

It is noted that "dealerships often sell cars with tires that are not suitable for the season. That is, in winter, people buy cars that can only be driven away without violating traffic rules on a tow truck. Often, dealership employees use this to sell additional tires, and also offer tire mounting on the dealership's territory - at an inflated price."

The idea was criticized by car expert Dmitry Popov in a conversation with "Ridus", who called it "unprecedented stupidity" and noted that "then they should ban summer shoes in winter and winter shoes in summer".

According to Popov, some dealerships include a set of winter tires in the cost of the car, and the use of seasonal tires is the responsibility of the car owner, not the seller.

"It's better to buy the tires you want yourself than to buy them from a dealership. Dealerships usually offer cheap tires for a lot of money," the expert added.
