Continental has produced its 100 millionth passenger car tire in China

On September 2, 2024, the Continental plant in Hefei (Anhui, China) produced its 100 millionth passenger tire, the local branch of the company reported.

The Hefei plant is the first and only Chinese tire plant of Continental, which was officially launched in 2011 and supplies premium products to the Chinese market and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The first tire was pilot-produced in 2010, and by 2020, the number of tires produced exceeded 50 million, and just four years later, the 100 millionth passenger tire was produced, the company said.

Continental emphasizes that "the development of the Hefei site is inseparable from the mastery of technological innovations and modernization, and in recent years, new equipment has been constantly installed at the enterprise and technologies have been introduced that increase the degree of automation and efficiency of production, as well as ensure product quality".

In June 2024, the fourth stage of the plant expansion was officially launched, and by its completion in 2027, the plant's capacity is expected to increase to 18 million passenger and light truck tires per year.
