Continental Expands Rubber Research Network for Dandelion Rubber

In order to achieve a greater effect in breeding dandelions for tire production and industrial use, Continental has expanded its Taraxagum project.

The tire manufacturer's project, aimed at obtaining natural rubber from dandelions, has taken into its research network the breeder Kartoffelzucht Böhm.

In collaboration with Kartoffelzucht Böhm, Continental aims to strengthen its dandelion breeding for rubber production - a material that is already being used in the Urban Taraxagum bicycle tire. The long-term goal of the manufacturer is the industrial production of dandelion rubber, which will enable its use in tires for passenger and commercial vehicles, as well as other rubber products.
