Continental introduced new all-season touring tires Continental TrueContact Tour54, designed for owners of passenger cars and crossovers, replacing two models on the North American market: TrueContact Tour and PureContact LS, the first of which is a direct predecessor of the new product, and the second was characterized by the company as a "luxury" class tire.

"We took two touring tires and made one out of them," said Bill Caldwell, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Continental's American division. "We improved the tire's performance and are pleased with the results: the TrueContact54 has an increased resource, but at the same time, it can reduce the braking distance on a wet road and improve handling on both wet and dry surfaces."

The new product is manufactured using the EcoPlus+ technology, and special polymers that reduce rolling resistance have been added to the rubber compound, while also increasing the tire's lifespan. Two types of wear indicators are used - the first allows monitoring the correct camber-toe of the wheels, and the second monitors the degree of tread wear in general. The indicator is made in the form of the letters D, W, and S (Dry, Wet, Snow), and when the S wears off, the tires can no longer work with full efficiency on snow, and when the W disappears, it means that the traction on wet surfaces is no longer optimal.

Two types of wear indicators

TrueContact Tour 54 became the first Continental tires on the American market to receive a marking indicating that they have been adapted for use on electric vehicles (the letters EV and a checkmark). The tires will be produced in 60 sizes from 195/65 R15 to 245/40 R20, and the guaranteed mileage is up to 128,000 km (in sizes with speed indices H and T).
