Continental expanded the size range of scooter tires
The company Continental has announced that against the backdrop of the growing scooter market, it will expand the size range of its well-proven premium-class ContiScoot tires and release them in nine new sizes with a rim diameter from 10 to 13 inches.
"The popularity of scooters continues to grow, and in 2023, more than 20 million people worldwide chose this practical two-wheeled vehicle for themselves — the company notes. — Compact dimensions and excellent maneuverability make scooters particularly attractive as a means of individual transportation in large cities. As analysts predict, by the end of the current decade, the number of new scooter registrations in the world will increase to approximately 24 million, partly because they are becoming even more attractive due to the electrification process.
ContiScoot has a number of features that "make it an ideal tire for demanding scooter owners". In particular, the tread pattern is designed for rapid water drainage from the contact patch, and the manufacturer claims that the tires provide high traction, including on cold and wet surfaces, i.e., optimal safety is guaranteed in difficult weather conditions. Additionally, engineers have worked to reduce braking distances on dry and wet pavement, and the rubber compound has been optimized to improve traction in rainy weather.

Another feature of the tires is their high efficiency in absorbing shocks when driving on roads with poor surfaces, cobblestones, etc. Additionally, the wear resistance has been increased, which is important for those who travel long distances on scooters, and Continental emphasizes that high traction is maintained throughout the life of the tires.
According to Sajren Nair, the creation of ContiScoot utilized know-how developed during the design of motorcycle tires, which helped improve their operational qualities. "Thanks to this, ContiScoot simultaneously meets the pragmatic requirements of consumers and provides maximum pleasure from riding a scooter," he added.
The new tire sizes are designed for both classic compact scooters (e.g., size 3.50-10) and many popular mid-size scooters (130/60-13). The release of new sizes has already begun and will continue in the fourth quarter of 2024. After the expansion of the ContiScoot line, they will be available in a total of 32 sizes for the front and rear wheels with a diameter of 10-16 inches, which are suitable for installation on almost all scooters with engine capacities from 50 to 350 cm3.
