Continental helps build basketball court from recycled tires of Extreme E
Tire manufacturer Continental has donated 400 m2 of recycled rubber to create paving stones for a youth basketball court in Hannover-Linden, Germany.
The paving stones were made from recycled racing tires from the Extreme E electric vehicle series, which Continental has supported as a founding partner since 2019. The Extreme E tires underwent an elaborate production process, in which all chemical components were extracted from them, after which they were transformed into paving stones that will serve as the foundation for the court.
The BasKIDball project aims to overcome social barriers through sports and create basketball courts throughout Germany where young people can train together, regardless of age, origin, or school. BasKIDball advocates for values such as team spirit and trust, health and fairness, and the social aspect plays a central role. Continental intends to support this approach with the donation of the Extreme E paving stones.
