Dakar Champion and Prometeon Extend Partnership
Prometeon Tyre Group, a manufacturer of tires for trucks, agricultural and other special equipment, announced the extension of its partnership with driver Martin Macik Jr., who won last year's Dakar Rally in the truck category on Prometeon S02 Rally tires. The company also confirmed its participation in next year's rally marathon, where its partner will again be Macik Jr.'s MM Technology Team.
At the 2026 Dakar, at least six trucks from Macik's team will be equipped with Prometeon S02 Rally tires, designed for the most challenging off-road conditions, and PTG notes that participation in such competitions helps the company improve the characteristics of its tires, such as durability, reliability, and safety, which are important both in racing and in everyday use in vehicle fleets.

"From the very beginning of our cooperation with Prometeon, we knew it would be successful," said Macik Jr. "We share their desire to constantly push the boundaries and achieve outstanding results. This approach works both in rally racing and in the development of new tires. I'm glad we're extending our partnership until 2028, as together we can achieve even more."
Gaetano Trezza, head of marketing and communications at PTG, added that "last year's outstanding results gave us additional motivation to continue participating in truck racing."

According to him, the partnership with Macik Jr. and his team "creates strategic opportunities for expanding our presence internationally, further introducing innovations in high-competition conditions, and applying the experience and knowledge gained in off-road racing to creating products that we supply to our customers every day."
Prometeon S02 Rally tires are part of the Series 02 family and are made using the same technology package as civilian tires, but have been specially adapted for use in rally racing and refined to provide maximum structural strength in extreme conditions. The tread pattern is designed to enhance grip on gravel, asphalt, and mud; the sidewalls are reinforced to withstand lateral impacts, contacts with sharp stones, and have increased resistance to abrasive wear; and the rubber compound is optimized to make the tires effective in a wide range of temperatures and road conditions, as well as to maintain optimal traction. Additionally, the reinforced carcass construction is designed to ensure stability at high speeds and prevent deformations when jumping and on uneven surfaces, while the special structure of the bead area is able to withstand extreme lateral loads and intense acceleration typical of rally racing, providing reliable tire seating on the rim and reducing the risk of it slipping or losing pressure during sharp maneuvers.

Another PTG partner is driver Bia Figueiredo, who participates in the Copa Truck, Brazil's largest truck racing championship, where the company is the official tire supplier.
