Small stones stuck in the tire tread can not only be annoyingly clicking, but also pose a real safety hazard, said Aleksey Stasyuk, head of the customer technical support department of Cordiant JSC "Cordiant".

According to him, "as a rule, a car is used on roads with different coatings, each of which affects the tires in its own way. On roads with gravel or even a small presence of stones, there is a risk of mechanical damage to the tire. A seemingly harmless stone stuck in the tread can cause a tire burst and, as a result, a serious accident".

Stasyuk adds that when staying in the tread for a long time, stones are able to damage the subtread layer, after which, due to the influence of moisture and dust, "irreversible processes occur that disrupt the adhesion (bonding) between the cord and the rubber".

"Long-term operation of such a tire can lead to delamination and premature failure, and even a burst during vehicle movement", - noted the representative of "Cordiant", adding that the less the depth of the tire tread, the more it is prone to damage risk, and to ensure safety, "it is necessary to regularly inspect the tires for damage to the cord, control wear and replace worn-out tires with new ones in a timely manner".
