The former Bridgestone plant in Russia will be renamed Gislaved

The tire plant in Ulyanovsk, previously owned by the Japanese Bridgestone, and last year acquired by the Russian holding company S8 Capital and became part of the tire cluster "Cordiant", will resume production in November of this year under the Gislaved brand, reports Kommersant.

In Russia, this will be the second Gislaved plant, and earlier, a production site in the Kaluga region, purchased from the German Continental, had already started operating under this brand. In total, the "Cordiant" cluster includes five plants, with three more located in Yaroslavl and Omsk. The total capacity is 15 million tires per year, and in this regard, "Cordiant" in Russia is second only to "Tatneft", which acquired the Nokian Tyres plant in Vsevolozhsk, capable of producing around 17 million tires per year.

The Ulyanovsk plant will produce tires, including those under the Gislaved brand, and it was previously reported that a new brand for the premium segment would also be launched. As noted by Cordiant's CEO Vadim Volodin, "currently, recipe adaptation, testing, and preparation for commissioning work are underway to launch the production of premium tires".
