Bridgestone has introduced its new flagship winter tire, Bridgestone Blizzak IcePeak, to the North American market, one of whose features is that it has become the first model of the brand to receive not only the 3PMSF symbol but also the Ice Grip pictogram, which is awarded to tires that have successfully passed ice braking performance tests (a similar symbol is used in Europe on tire labels).

To receive the Ice Grip marking, the tire must outperform the reference tire by at least 18% in braking performance on ice in accordance with the ISO 19447:2021 standard

In the Blizzak lineup, which, according to Gfk, was the most popular in the winter segment among car owners in the US in 2024, the new product will replace two models at once - Blizzak WS90 and Blizzak DM-V2 - and will be available in 107 sizes with a diameter from 14 to 22 inches for both passenger cars and crossovers, SUVs, pickups, and minivans, which will allow it to cover 97% of the American market, and the use of Enliten technology makes the tires suitable for use on vehicles with any type of powertrain, including hybrids and electric cars.

To improve braking performance on icy roads, a patented rubber compound MultiCell with micropores that remove the water film from the ice surface was used, while the optimized design of the tread blocks and deep 3D sipes creating multiple biting edges increase the tire's efficiency when driving on snow. In addition, the compound has been improved to increase wear resistance and reduce rolling resistance, and tests have shown that the tire life has been increased compared to products of the previous generation, which, in combination with improved energy efficiency, will save consumers money.

"We are constantly evolving the Blizzak lineup, consistently raising the bar in terms of winter performance," said Ian McKenny, Senior Product Manager at Bridgestone Americas. "And with Enliten technology, we have the opportunity to improve all the operational characteristics of the tires, ensuring increased durability and reduced rolling resistance, while paying special attention to increasing the environmental friendliness of the products."

Blizzak IcePeak will enter the North American market in May 2026.
