Bridgestone sells carbon black plant in Thailand

The Bridgestone Corporation has announced the sale of its Thai subsidiary, Bridgestone Carbon Black (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (BSCB), which is engaged in the production of carbon black. The buyers are the Japanese company Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. and its subsidiary, Thai Tokai Carbon Product Co. Ltd.

Bridgestone notes that it is working to strengthen its global business and seeking new opportunities for development in the current unstable conditions, and in its core tire segment, the company aims to improve the efficiency of the entire production and sales chain, from material development and finished products to raw material procurement, logistics, and so on, and the sale of BSCB is part of these strategic initiatives.

Carbon black will be procured from global partners such as Tokai Carbon, and in addition, the two Japanese companies are currently implementing a joint project aimed at obtaining recovered carbon black from used tires.

Bridgestone emphasizes that the sale of assets is a response to changes in the market, and with the help of Tokai Carbon's technologies and extensive competencies, the company will continue to strengthen its competitiveness in the future, while also implementing new projects in the field of tire recycling and so on.

The BSCB company was founded in 2001 in Rayong, and its staff consists of about 140 people.
