Belshina launches seven new sizes of studded tyres

Seven new studable tyre sizes have been added to Belshina's product range, reports Shinnik. 

Five sizes of the passenger tyre model Belshina Artmotion Spike have entered serial production: 185/60 R14 (Bel-267S), 205/60 R16 (Bel-277S), 215/60 R14 (Bel-257S), 185/60 R15 (Bel-367S), and 205/65 R15 (Bel-297S). Meanwhile, the light truck tyre Belshina Bravado Spike is now available in two additional sizes: 195/75 R16C (Bel-303S) and 215/75 R16C (Bel-313S).

Belshina Artmotion Spike features a directional tread pattern with a twin central rib that enhances straight-line stability, along with numerous zigzag sipes that improve grip on slippery surfaces. Additionally, wide longitudinal and transverse grooves effectively evacuate water and slush, while the tread block's biting edges are designed to increase traction on ice and compacted snow. 

Meanwhile, Belshina Bravado Spike tyres, designed for use on GAZelle, Sobol and their modifications, feature a tread pattern with arc-shaped channels that accelerate self-cleaning of the tyre tread, while an optimised sequence of block arrangement improves acoustic comfort. The rubber compound is engineered to ensure reliable grip even at extremely low temperatures down to -45 °C.

The publication adds that the installation of anti-skid studs has traditionally not been particularly popular among Belarusian drivers, but "is especially valued by motorists in regions where winter doesn't 'whisper' but resounds at full volume": "Studding ensures effective braking on ice, increases vehicle traction in deep snow, on ice crust and slush, and prevents side skidding during manoeuvres on slippery roads — for Russia's North, Siberia and the Far East, these capabilities are not merely beneficial but sometimes essential."
