Apollo recalls 4300 passenger tires

Apollo Tyres has announced the recall of approximately 4,300 tires under the Apollo and Vredestein brands, which were manufactured during the ninth week of 2024 (0924) at the company's plant in Hungarian Dьndьjхalас (DOT code — 023). It is reported that the tires were delivered to distributors in Europe, Turkey, the US, and the UAE in quantities of 3,540, 266, 194, and 26 units, respectively.

During quality control at the plant, it was discovered that a "contaminated" rubber compound was used in the production of the tires, which, as laboratory tests showed, creates a risk of delamination of the metal cord breaker. As a result, the likelihood of losing control of the vehicle increases, and Apollo decided to recall the tires from the market. In addition, an inspection of another 55,000 tires that were manufactured during the same week as those being recalled will be conducted.

In total, tires of six models (in 28 sizes) will be recalled: Vredestein Hitrac, Quatrac, Quatrac Pro+, Quatrac Pro EV, and Ultrac, as well as Apollo Alnac 4G All Season.

Apollo emphasizes that it has no data on the tire defect leading to any incidents and is currently working actively to minimize inconvenience for distributors, dealers, and motorists.
