The release of new off-road tires Toyo has been announced
Toyo Tires adds to its off-road lineup Open Country a new model R/T Pro, which will take a place between the R/T Trail tires and the famous mud Open Country M/T. While the R/T Trail is a "hybrid" tire of the Rugged-Terrain class, combining the properties of A/T and M/T category products, the R/T Pro is closer to tires for the most severe off-road conditions, and in the brand's lineup, it will replace the Open Country R/T model, presented in 2014.
Like its predecessor, the new Toyo is designed for use in harsh conditions, including dirt, sand, rocks, snow, and mud, but also provides a higher level of comfort on paved surfaces compared to mud tires. The aggressive tread pattern with polygonal blocks and an increased void volume is designed to provide reliable traction during off-roading, while the three-step tread configuration reduces noise, and the design is also optimized to prevent uneven wear.
Open Country R/T Pro also features reinforced sidewalls with three layers of polyester, which improves the tire's resistance to damage and impacts, while the massive shoulder lugs increase traction on off-road conditions. In addition, the rubber compound has been modified to increase resistance to cuts and chips, as well as to extend the life of the tire by reducing uneven wear. The warranty mileage is 45,000 miles (72,000 km), which is one of the best in this class.
According to Todd Bergeson, Senior Product Planning Manager at Toyo's US division, "the novelty is the result of extensive research and testing, and we worked directly with off-road enthusiasts and industry experts from across the country to ensure that it meets both our strict standards and customer expectations in terms of performance and reliability."
Initially, the new tires will be released on the US market in 50 sizes with a rim diameter of 17-24 inches, and the maximum outer diameter will be 42 inches. Open Country R/T Pro is designed for vehicles, both in their original and modified states, from brands such as Chevrolet, Ford, Ineos, Land Rover, Nissan, Jeep, Ram, and Toyota. The first sizes will be available starting April 2025.
