Description Yokohama V902B
The winter non-studded tire Yokohama V902B is another attempt by the well-known Japanese manufacturer in our country to impose fierce competitive struggle with its colleagues from Bridgestone. Meanwhile, both concerns are developing this direction, using approximately the same technologies, which become more effective from year to year. Car enthusiasts remain in the most advantageous position, having the opportunity to choose the really best non-studded tire for winter, at least from several options.
Interlocking 3D Lamellae
One of such "common" technologies is interlocking 3D lamellae. Their key feature is the ability to fix not only their own walls but also "neighbors" in a stationary position. This is ensured by the appearance of another lamella in the tread blocks, located perpendicular to the other lamellae. When contacting the road, their walls are firmly fixed between each other due to their pyramidal shape, which limits any block mobility under load. On the one hand, this allowed significantly increasing the number of lamellae on the tread, and along with it, the grip on ice, and on the other hand, handling on any solid surface.
Optimal Elasticity in a Wide Temperature Range
Until recently, the main component by which Yokohama seriously lagged behind Bridgestone was the rubber compound. This model eliminates this lag due to a significantly updated composition. The main innovation was the so-called "flexible polymers". They provide a certain level of tread elasticity in a very wide temperature range. This ability gives the tire excellent grip properties on any slippery surface, which remain stable regardless of weather conditions.
Key Features of Yokohama V902B
- self-locking 3D lamellae with pyramidal walls provide excellent grip on ice and reliable, predictable handling on dry surfaces;
- special polymers in the compound give the tread a certain level of elasticity, which practically does not change in a very wide temperature range, thanks to which the grip properties remain very stable regardless of weather conditions.
