Yokohama Ice Guard IG50A+ — winter model from the famous Japanese manufacturer, which is distinguished by its effectiveness on winter roads. The tire ensures confident passage of snowy and icy areas, as well as stability of vehicle behavior on wet roads. Such performance was achieved through increasing the contact area and equipping the tire with a numerous lamellar network.
The asymmetric tread has a non-directional structure with pronounced segmentation into separate blocks. The latter are formed into several ring-shaped elements. This design allowed to solve several problems at once. Firstly, it increased the accuracy of control and made it more responsive, which directly affected the improvement of safety. The compound of the tire plays a significant role in ensuring its functionality. In this case, it is represented by a proprietary mixture containing a significant percentage of silicon dioxide. It stabilizes the elasticity at low temperatures, not allowing the tread to "drain". This directly affects the preservation of the effective coupling properties.
The tire is equipped with several ring-shaped channels, as well as a numerous network of grooves that connect to each other. The formed network ensures the rapid cleaning of the contact area from moisture, slush, and dirt, maintaining braking and acceleration characteristics at a high level.
