The tread pattern of this model features a large number of blocks grouped into six longitudinal ribs. This arrangement of tread elements has made it possible to achieve excellent directional stability.
Despite the seeming simplicity of the rectangular shapes, the tread blocks contain a number of advanced technologies. First and foremost, it is worth noting the equipping of the tread pattern with a multitude of three-dimensional lamellas. One of the key features of the lamellas of the Yokohama Ice Guard IG10 is the design of their walls, which allows them to be more securely fixed to each other, thereby significantly increasing the stiffness of the tread blocks. This has made it possible to increase the number of lamellas, and consequently, the number of edges they form. Additionally, the increased stiffness of the tread has made it possible to significantly improve the handling characteristics on asphalt.
Another feature of the tread pattern of this tire is the presence of special diagonal lamellas. The main purpose of these lamellas is to provide reliable and stable traction with slippery surfaces during the run-in period of the tire.
As is known, the main cause of poor traction on ice is the water film on its surface, which forms as a result of friction. To combat this phenomenon, Japanese tire makers have applied an innovative rubber compound that has the ability to absorb water like a sponge. This was achieved by using multi-layered carbon inclusions and encapsulated air bubbles in the composition of the rubber compound.

Came with the car. Unfortunately, the owner wasn't present, so I don't know how many they've been run. Handling was normal on both dry asphalt and wet. The tyre is fairly soft even in strong frosts (-30 to -40). Acceleration and braking on fresh, loose snow without any complaints. However, on packed snow they lock up immediately with even light braking. Speaking of ice, I'll just say that it's completely useless. Noise level is low. But the

Excellent tire. Perhaps if you drive on roads covered with continuous ice all winter, then studs are better. But if your climate is like that where there is ice and then thaw, then IG10 is a great option. I haven't tried driving fast, but on the ice in the city, it met my expectations, and on a snowy highway, it met my expectations.
