The summer tire Yokohama G.T. Special Classic Y350 became the first in the new line of "passenger" models, created specifically for classic sports cars produced in the 1960s and 1970s. In addition to the size range, starting with versions for 14-inch wheel disks, this tire is distinguished by its original exterior design, which combines the use of modern technologies and materials.
Authenticity in appearance
The tire's name was borrowed from the model released by the Japanese company in 1971, which became iconic for it, in particular, marking the beginning of the production of radial tubeless tires with a steel cord. It was this model that was chosen for the debut of the puncture sealing technology. The Special Sealex version appeared in 1975, opening up access for the Japanese company to the automotive sport, from rallies to circuit racing. Regardless of the version, its modern version with the Y350 index received the same tread pattern, along with the "signature" logos on the sidewalls. It features a combination of four continuous longitudinal ribs, similar to those currently used in commercial tires. The elements are separated from each other by zigzag-shaped grooves, the walls of which are used as gripping edges, providing stable traction on wet pavement. The shape of the drainage elements reduces wear, noise, and vibration, and also reduces the risk of aquaplaning. All longitudinal ribs contain many lamellas, the sharpened edges of which also provide reliability of control on wet pavement.
Modern technologies and materials
Behind the authentic exterior design, solutions from the BluEarth line models are hidden. In particular, a rubber compound with the same composition is used here. Most of it is silicon dioxide, which, along with orange peel oil, provides the tread with a combination of elasticity with tear and tensile strength, as well as the ability to more intensively dissipate heat generated by the tire's internal components during its rotation. As a result, it demonstrates more stable traction on wet pavement, as well as resistance to abrasive wear, crack formation, and punctures, and a smooth and quiet ride on "rough" asphalt.
