Yokohama Geolandar X-MT G005

The summer tire Yokohama Geolandar M/T G005 is installed on pickups and SUVs. The operational properties are selected to provide maximum efficiency on dirt roads with medium and low bearing capacity. In such conditions, it provides high traction, wear resistance, and reliability.

The tread pattern is developed using the Rock Concept technology. The aggressive non-directional design is rich in small individual blocks of complex shape, reminiscent of ordinary stones. In the side projection, they have a stepped profile, expanding as they approach the bottom of the drainage grooves. This solution improves the vertical stability of the blocks, which has a positive effect on the stability of the coupling properties.

The elements are distributed in groups, three elements in each. The resulting transverse edges have a large extent, which, in combination with the significant height of the blocks, provides a stably high traction force off-road. Here it is worth noting the "checkered" arrangement of the block groups. This significantly increases the stability of the coupling properties, reduces rolling resistance, and provides a more even distribution of pressure from the weight of the vehicle on the road surface.

Each block has deep slot-like cuts. These elements, forming differently directed sharp edges, allow the tire to better grip the smooth slippery surface from water. This increases the efficiency of the tread on wet asphalt roads and rocky dirt roads.

In the development of the tire, much attention was paid to ensuring reliability in difficult off-road operating conditions. In particular, the tire sidewalls contain a 3-layer polyester cord. The spiral winding without any seams or joints provides a very dense arrangement of synthetic fibers. As a result, such a design, with an extremely low weight, has significant resistance to aggressive mechanical stress and elasticity at the same time. This not only increases the reliability of the tire but also allows its use at reduced internal pressure. A similar solution is applied to the breaker, where, in addition to 2 steel cords, there are 3 polyester and 1 nylon cord.
