In contrast to many other representatives of the "off-road" line of tires from Yokohama, the Geolandar H/T-S G051J model is designed for operation, first and foremost, on paved roads. The manufacturer allows for the possibility of its use on off-road, but to a very limited extent. In fact, this is its advantage, since most modern SUVs and crossovers are operated in exactly this mode, i.e. maximum highway and minimum off-road. In such conditions, this model demonstrates all its strongest sides, both in summer and winter, since it is positioned by the Japanese manufacturer as all-season. This feature is another of its undeniable advantages.
Extended service life and improved traction
Most of the solutions used in the design of this tire are interconnected, i.e. they improve the same operational properties. One of them is the increased tread depth. This allows the tire to maintain its working characteristics even with significant mileage, and also increases its resistance to aquaplaning and slushplaning. This is largely due to the fairly open tread design, which contains many wide and deep drainage grooves.
Special cross-shaped grooves
In the blocks of the central part of the tread, there are special cross-shaped grooves. The main purpose of these elements is to provide improved traction on packed snow and ice.
Constant contact with the road
As you know, a significant part of the tire noise is generated by air flows passing at high speed through their drainage grooves. In this model, this problem has been largely solved due to the design of the tread pattern, in which the blocks are arranged in such a way as to provide constant contact between the tire and the road. In addition, this solution allowed to significantly improve the traction with it.
Main features of the Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S G051J tire
- a tread of increased depth in combination with numerous drainage grooves provides increased resistance to aquaplaning and slushplaning;
- special cross-shaped grooves in the blocks of the central part of the tread improve traction on packed snow and ice;
- low noise level due to the optimized arrangement of tread blocks.
