The Yokohama BluEarth 1 summer tire is a representative of the so-called "environmental" line of models from this well-known and respected Japanese manufacturer. This model is produced in only five, but the most popular sizes, ranging from 185/65R15 to 215/45R17.

What is BluEarth

This term hides a whole complex of technological solutions aimed at minimizing the harmful impact on the environment while maintaining the main operational characteristics of the tire at a high level. This technology consists of the following main components - improved aerodynamics, low rolling resistance, lightweight construction, and innovative rubber compound composition.

Super Nano-Power Rubber compound

This model is one of the first tires whose tread is made from a rubber compound that, in addition to silicon-containing components and natural rubber, also contains oil derived from orange peel. The new compound has made it possible to significantly reduce the use of petroleum products in tire production and lower fuel consumption due to a significant reduction in rolling resistance. At the same time, it was possible to maintain other operational indicators at a very high level, which fully corresponds to the concept within which this tire was created.

AIRTEX Advanced Liner

The main purpose of this technology is to maintain a constant pressure level inside the tire, which allows for a significant increase in the energy efficiency of the Yokohama BluEarth 1 tire due to reduced fuel consumption. This task was solved by using a new material for the production of internal liners, which made it possible to slow down to a minimum the penetration of air through the pores of the rubber.

AERO Dynamics Technology

Air resistance is a factor that negatively affects fuel consumption. Therefore, during the development of this model, it underwent multiple tests in a wind tunnel. The result of the tests was the equipping of the tire's sidewalls with a large number of small-diameter circular depressions. This made it possible to significantly reduce air turbulence, which led to an improvement in aerodynamic performance. In addition, even the design of the logo was designed in such a way as not to create obstacles to the flow of air flowing around the tire.

Asymmetric tread pattern design

This model is equipped with an asymmetric directional tread pattern, as this scheme of arrangement of tread elements made it possible to ensure an ideal balance between phenomenally low rolling resistance, durability, and excellent traction in any conditions. The tread pattern features four longitudinal ribs with massive sizes and a rigid structure. It is this combination that made it possible to ensure minimal fuel consumption. In addition, due to the rigidity of the tread ribs, the tire demonstrates excellent directional stability and the sporty handling inherent in all passenger models of this Japanese manufacturer.

Another feature of this tread pattern is the high performance of the Yokohama BluEarth 1 tire's drainage system, which consists of three longitudinal water drainage grooves and numerous transverse channels. The large depth and width of the longitudinal grooves allow them to hold a sufficient amount of water, which is then directed outside the tread through the drainage channels of the shoulder areas of the tread. In addition, two of the three longitudinal water drainage grooves have a wavy relief, which promotes better pressure distribution across the contact patch and reduces the level of noise generated by the tire.

The shoulder areas of the tread feature a reinforced structure, which made it possible to achieve a large contact patch area and its rectangular configuration. As a result, the tire demonstrates excellent traction on dry roads, and its tread is highly resistant to uneven wear, which extends the life of the tire.
