In the "Advanced Vehicle System" model family, the summer passenger tire Yokohama AVS dB V550 stands out. This can be guessed from the letter combination in the name dB, meaning the well-known unit of noise measurement. I.e., this model is distinguished by a reduced noise level when moving. At the same time, a high level of comfort was achieved without compromising other operational characteristics.

When developing this model, Japanese tire manufacturers sought to ensure an ideal balance between handling and noise characteristics. Therefore, during its creation, computer modeling technologies were actively used, replacing millions of kilometers of real tests.

As a result, the tire received a classic V-shaped directional tread pattern, which, nevertheless, has a number of original design solutions. Since this model is designed for powerful high-speed passenger cars, great attention was paid to ensuring high directional stability. To do this, the tread pattern was equipped with a very wide central rib with high structural strength. In addition, this solution led to a reduction in the reaction time to steering wheel turns, which introduced sports features into the handling character.

Another distinctive feature of this model is a very efficient drainage system. It consists of four very deep and wide longitudinal grooves, which can accommodate a huge amount of water at the same time, which is then directed beyond the contact patch through a system of transverse grooves. As a result, the Yokohama AVS dB V550 tire demonstrates exceptional resistance to aquaplaning.

Main features of the Yokohama AVS dB V550 model

- Tread blocks in the shoulder areas of 5 different sizes, which significantly reduced the noise level;
- Exceptional resistance to aquaplaning, thanks to a high-performance drainage system that easily handles even a very large amount of water on the road;
- Solid central rib, provides constant contact of the tire with the road;
- Small block sizes, the shape of which is selected using computer modeling technologies to eliminate uneven wear and reduce noise;
- AFC frame, effectively absorbs vibrations without compromising the stiffness of the sidewalls, which allows reducing the vibration load of the tire, while maintaining sports handling.
