Yokohama Advan Sport V103B

In the development of the summer tire Yokohama Advan Sport V103B, a whole range of technologies previously used only in circuit racing, including the famous "24 Hours of Le Mans", were applied. It could not be otherwise, given the positioning of this tire as a flagship model range, designed for powerful sports cars.

Durable and lightweight carcass

When creating this model, Japanese tire manufacturers demonstrated an uncompromising approach to handling. One of the solutions that allowed for the maximum improvement of this operational characteristic was a very lightweight, yet rigid and resistant to continuous exposure to multidirectional acceleration forces carcass. It is practically entirely made of synthetic materials, representing an extraordinarily lightweight and durable structure with significant carrying capacity. This is largely due to the two-layer breaker made of steel cord using seamless winding technology. Additionally, the design of the tire's rim cannot be ignored. It contains a cavity with a special filler that provides a more secure fixation of the tire on the wheel disk.

Semi-circular grooves

In turn, one of the key features of the asymmetric tread pattern is special semi-circular drainage grooves located on its inner side. They perform several functions at once. The main one is to divert water from the contact patch, which, in combination with four longitudinal grooves, allows avoiding the aquaplaning effect even at very high speeds.
Additionally, the semi-circular grooves form a multitude of very long longitudinal traction edges. This significantly increases the tire's stability when performing maneuvers, and due to their curved shape, prevents the occurrence and development of uneven wear.

Main features of the Yokohama Advan Sport V103B tire

- low weight and high rigidity due to the widespread use of modern synthetic materials in the carcass design, as well as a two-layer breaker made of steel cord;
- numerous semi-circular drainage grooves on the inner side of the tread increase resistance to aquaplaning, provide stable and reliable behavior when cornering, and prevent uneven wear;
- fast and very accurate reactions to the driver's actions due to the wide, uninterrupted tread ribs in the central part of the tread and a rigid, massive shoulder area on its outer side.
