The Toyo Open Country I/T winter passenger studded tire was specifically designed for the harsh climatic conditions of Northern European countries and, of course, Russia. This model, like the entire Open Country tire line, is designed for passenger vehicles in the SUV category, i.e. for off-road vehicles and crossovers. The range of its sizes includes 16 options with mounting sizes from 16 to 20 inches.
Like most other tires from this Japanese manufacturer, this model was created using the DSOC-T digital technology for simulating vehicle behavior. The practical result of using digital technology was an ideal balance of operational qualities, regardless of the characteristics of the road surface.
The Toyo Open Country I/T tire tread features a symmetrical directional pattern with an aggressive V-shaped design. The main elements of the tread pattern are massive blocks with serrated edges. This has made it possible to ensure not only large contact patch sizes but also to saturate it with numerous traction edges, which has made it possible to achieve excellent traction in all directions.
For more confident behavior on ice, the tire is equipped with 120 studs, the arrangement of which provides the most effective traction on a slippery icy surface. In addition, the tread is equipped with a huge number of 3D lamellas, which form additional sharp edges that can grip even the micro-irregularities on the surface of the ice. At the same time, the zigzag structure of the lamella walls makes it possible to ensure more reliable fixation between them at the moment of contact with the road surface. Due to this, the stiffness of the blocks increases significantly, which improves the handling characteristics on a dry road.
