The North American company Titan Tire was founded in 1993 by Maurice M. Taylor Jr., owner of Titan Wheel, a wheel rim manufacturer. They acquired Dyneer Corporation, a manufacturer of off-road specialty tires. In 1994, the holding company became the owner of the off-road tire production assets of Pirelli Armstrong Tire Corporation in the USA, and in 1998, it acquired Fidelity Tire, a bankrupt golf cart, tractor, and special equipment tire manufacturer. The expansion continued in 2005 when Titan Tire became the owner of the German Continental AG's OTR tire production. In November 2011, the company acquired Goodyear's plant in the state of Tennessee, and shortly thereafter, the company's enterprises in Latin America, gaining the opportunity to use its trademark, along with its own and Caterpillar. Part of the company's production assets are located in Russia. A study conducted by Yale University in 2022 classified it in the "Digging in" category. These are "entrenched" companies that have refused to leave the Russian market after the start of the military confrontation with Ukraine.
Currently, the North American manufacturer releases a wide range of specialty tires, distributed across the following categories:
- construction;
- forestry;
- mining;
- agriculture.
In the construction tire segment, the company offers models of two types - radial and bias. Radial tires are distinguished by increased wear resistance and traction on unpaved surfaces, reduced rolling resistance, making them a more preferred option for long distances. Bias models are designed for operation with short-distance movement, but with a higher load on the tire. They are characterized by high strength and reliability.
Tires from the line of models for the forestry industry are distinguished by a special design of tread patterns, which reduce the likelihood of cracking, punctures, and tears of the tread. It is made from special compounds that are resistant to any mechanical stress. It is also worth noting the use of carcasses with an increased number of layers in the cord, part of which is integrated into the structure of the sidewalls. This allows the tire to handle significant torque and heavy loads of forestry machines and equipment without any problems.
A distinctive feature of Titan's tires for the mining industry is the use of a large number of rubber compounds, tread patterns, and sizes. This allows you to choose a option that is optimally suited to almost any version of dump trucks, loaders, including articulated modifications. This line also offers tires of two types - bias and radial with exactly the same properties as similar products for the construction industry.
The company's tires for agricultural equipment fit many tractors, combines, sprayers, loaders with side shift, and other self-propelled and towed machines and equipment. Some models are distinguished by the use of the "low sidewall" LSW technology. This solution significantly improves the efficiency of agricultural equipment, as it prevents it from swaying at high speeds. In addition, it prevents excessive compaction of the topsoil layer.
