When developing the Sonix Xsport S8 model, the main task was to create a universal summer tire for the mass segment of passenger cars that is not afraid of rainy roads and sharp maneuvers. The Chinese manufacturer applied the method of computer modeling. This allowed designing a non-directional tread with an ideal balance between drainage and block stiffness.
Three central ribs — the key to precise control
In the central zone of the tread, there are three rib structures, each with differently directed notches. This is a calculated geometry that solves tactical problems:
- provides instantaneous stopping due to numerous edges;
- gives a clear response to steering wheel turns.
Drainage complex
Numerous transverse and longitudinal channels form a voluminous network that literally "scoops out" water from the contact patch. When entering a puddle, the tire does not hydroplane. Effective protection against hydroplaning is confirmed at speeds of up to 80-90 km/h, depending on the water layer.
Silence as a result of aerodynamics
The shape of the channels and the arrangement of the blocks are selected to dampen air swirls even before they occur. The result is no high-frequency whistling and resonance from cavities. The low noise threshold is maintained even after 15-20 thousand km of mileage.
