Description Semperit Ice Grip 3
When developing the Semperit Ice Grip 3 winter passenger tire, advanced technologies and materials were used, which makes it stand out with the highest efficiency on any winter roads. Externally, this model is very similar to one of the most famous Finnish winter tires, which is an advantage, as the solutions used in it have proven to be very effective.
Arrow-shaped longitudinal rib in the center
The key element of the V-shaped tread pattern of this tire is the arrow-shaped longitudinal rib, located exactly in its center. Significant dimensions in combination with a continuous structure improve several important operational properties at once - directional stability, handling, and rolling resistance. At the same time, the original arrow-shaped shape of the rib provides a contact patch with a multitude of additional gripping edges.
Cross-shaped grooves
In the shoulder areas, there are a large number of special cross-shaped grooves. In addition to being used to divert water and snow slush from the contact patch, these tread elements improve traction when driving on snowy roads. Their cross-shaped shape allows the tread to capture and hold snow, ensuring the occurrence of the so-called "wafer effect" (snow-on-snow friction).
Several thousand gripping edges
The wavy lamellas cut into all the tread blocks form several hundred times more gripping edges than they do. This allows the tire to demonstrate reliable traction on icy and snowy surfaces. At the same time, the wavy shape of the lamella walls significantly limits the transverse mobility of the blocks, which, in turn, increases directional stability.
Main features of Semperit Ice Grip 3
- The arrow-shaped rib in the center improves directional stability and handling, reduces rolling resistance, prevents uneven wear, and provides the contact patch with additional gripping edges;
- Cross-shaped drainage grooves improve traction on snow;
- Wide blocks in the shoulder areas increase stability when cornering, reduce the braking distance.
