Description Росава Quartum S49
The summer passenger tire Rosava Quartum S49 owes its appearance to the Ukrainian manufacturer's desire to find new markets. This model was initially intended for North America and was created based on the well-known Soviet-era tire, the BC-49, which is still produced today. The new tire has managed to retain all the advantages of its predecessor while acquiring a whole range of new ones, primarily in terms of wear resistance and traction on wet roads.
Modernized rubber compound
The use of modern high-tech equipment has allowed the Ukrainian company to master new technologies for preparing the rubber compound. As is the case with a quality tire, the Rosava Quartum S49 model features a rubber compound that includes silicon-containing elements, such as silica. Thanks to this, the tread has become more elastic, allowing it to more closely hug the road surface, including all its irregularities. At the same time, this circumstance has not affected the resistance to abrasive wear; on the contrary, this indicator has been significantly improved.
Optimized tread pattern
As is known, despite its advantages, the BC-49 model had a number of drawbacks, the most significant of which was its traction on wet surfaces. The new tread pattern has largely eliminated this issue.
The Ukrainian tire manufacturers did not abandon the S-shaped design of the tread pattern, as it allows for high traction on various types of surfaces. At the same time, it is characterized by low susceptibility to uneven wear and low rolling resistance. In its updated version, the tread pattern has acquired a more aggressive design, and all its blocks have been slightly reduced in size, while their number has increased significantly. As a result, the tire's contact patch now features a larger number of sharp edges, which has had a positive effect on handling, especially on wet roads.
Another direct consequence of reducing the size of the tread blocks was an increase in the performance of the drainage system, which also received additional elements. As before, it consists of four longitudinal drainage grooves that divide the tread into separate longitudinal ribs. However, thanks to the additional transverse channels, the speed of removing excess moisture from the contact patch has increased significantly, which is why the tire demonstrates very high resistance to aquaplaning.
It is also worth noting the presence of a solid longitudinal rib in the central part of the tread, which has proven its effectiveness in the BC-49 model. Its high structural rigidity has allowed the tires to have excellent directional stability and instant response to steering wheel turns.
Another "Achilles' heel" of the predecessor was the noise level. In this model, all the tread blocks are arranged with an even more varied pitch relative to each other. Thanks to this, it was possible to significantly reduce the level of resonant noises and vibrations.
Main features of the Rosava Quartum S49 tire
- The optimized tread pattern is perfectly adapted to driving on wet roads;
- The more aggressive design of the S-shaped tread pattern provides excellent traction, regardless of the characteristics of the road surface;
- Good fuel economy is ensured by the reduced rolling resistance, which is achieved through the use of a new rubber compound;
- Excellent resistance to aquaplaning is achieved due to the increased number of drainage system elements;
- The increased number of tread blocks has allowed the contact patch to be saturated with edges to the maximum, which has significantly improved handling, especially on wet roads;
- The rigid rib that runs exactly along the center of the tread provides excellent directional stability and quick response to steering wheel turns.
