The all-season Pro Comp Xterrain tire, produced by one of the respected North American manufacturers, is designed exclusively for SUVs and pickup trucks. This model is a successful attempt to create a tire that combines a high level of comfort on regular roads with uncompromising off-road capability.
This model is equipped with a tread featuring a directional symmetric pattern, distinguished by an aggressive V-shaped design. This pattern is the result of the extensive use of computer-aided simulation tools in its development. The Pro Comp XTerrain tire tread consists of four longitudinal ribs, two of which are located in the central part, and the other two are shoulder zones. Both central ribs feature two rows of massive and high blocks, with large blocks alternating with relatively small ones. Additionally, all blocks have a trapezoidal shape and elliptical edges with smoothed angles. Thanks to this construction of the central part of the tread, it was possible to ensure a decent level of comfort on roads with a solid surface without compromising excellent off-road capability.
Another distinctive feature of this model is the presence of special elliptical lamellas on the surface of all tread blocks, including the shoulder zones. These lamellas, cut through the entire depth of the tread, self-lock when the tread comes into contact with the surface, resulting in a significant increase in the stiffness of the tread block. This has improved the tire's main operational characteristics, including traction, rolling resistance, and handling.
Key Features of Pro Comp Xterrain
- Unique V-shaped design of the directional symmetric tread pattern developed using computer simulation tools;
- Phenomenal balance of uncompromising off-road capability and low noise level on regular roads;
- Excellent traction on various surfaces, thanks to a large number of blocks with elliptical lamellas throughout their depth;
- Excellent elasticity and high resistance to punctures and cuts due to the polyester layer in the tire breaker;
- Increased sidewall thickness provides reliable protection against aggressive mechanical impact.
