The Pirelli Winter Sottozero III ELT winter tire is designed for use on passenger vehicles with hybrid or fully electric powertrains. It is a special version of the same-name model, differing from the standard version in addition to the ELT marking with increased fuel efficiency, acoustic comfort, and durability. The driving characteristics are tailored to the increased weight of electric vehicles and "hybrids".
The directional tread pattern is fully identical to the "original" Sottozero III. It is distinguished by the presence of a large number of narrow blocks, the elongated edges of which provide high traction, braking intensity, and directional stability on snow. Numerous "three-dimensional" lamellae preserve these properties on wet and icy surfaces, adding to them increased steering accuracy, "signature" for most passenger tires of the Italian brand. The increased longitudinal grooves in the central part prevent aquaplaning, not allowing the formation of a continuous water film in the contact patch. The rubber compound is selected based on the climatic conditions of regions with sustained snow cover in winter. Such a compound remains elastic at extremely low temperatures, while maintaining wear resistance and resistance to punctures and tears.
Key features of Pirelli Winter Sottozero III ELT
- design adapted for use in electric vehicles and "hybrids";
- special compound, elastic at low temperatures and resistant to increased vehicle weight and wear;
- "three-dimensional" lamellae and narrow elongated blocks provide efficiency on any winter surface.
