The Pirelli Winter Snowcontrol II winter tire is designed for use in regions with a truly cold climate. On any snowy and icy roads, this model demonstrates course stability, reliability in handling, improved traction and braking properties, along with reduced fuel consumption, wear resistance, and acoustic comfort.
The tread pattern is made in a classic design for winter tires with a V-shaped arrangement of drainage grooves. These elements, due to their size and direction against the movement, provide intense removal of not only water but also its mixture with snow and road dirt from under the tire. Being deployed across the shoulder zones, the walls of the grooves allow for intense acceleration and braking in such conditions. Another feature of the pattern is the design of the central longitudinal rib. It has a composite structure, representing a series of partially overlapping blocks. This provides course stability and ease of handling at high speeds, reducing wear and rolling resistance. It is worth noting the use of numerous "three-dimensional" lamellas, which, when in contact with the road surface, form hundreds of sharpened edges, increasing the reliability of handling, primarily on rolled snow and ice. The effectiveness of these elements is further enhanced by the use of so-called "activators" that connect the lamellas together, allowing them to open simultaneously on the surface of the entire block. The next important distinction of the tire is the compound used in its manufacture. It is characterized by a high content of "silica", silicon dioxide, which gives the tread elasticity, preserving a significant part of it even in the strongest frosts. This allows the tire to demonstrate stable traction even in such unfavorable conditions for it.
