The Pirelli Winter Ice Zero Asimmetrico winter tire, despite being part of the flagship "zero" line, is a universal model designed for the widest range of passenger car owners. It is available in a large number of sizes with a rim diameter starting from 15 inches. Nevertheless, it has all the "signature" features of this brand's tires, including improved handling accuracy and stability at high speeds.
The tread pattern is notable not only for its asymmetric arrangement of elements, but also for their increased density. This has allowed the useful area of the tread to be maximized, making the contact patch larger. This solution, combined with the characteristic almost flat profile, has provided a significant increase in traction and handling at high speeds. It is worth noting the presence of massive rectangular blocks on the edges, which, due to their rigidity and increased transverse edges, allow for intense braking on snow and wet surfaces. Another important feature of the tread is the lamellas. The several thousand zigzag-shaped edges formed by them maintain the effectiveness of the tread during longitudinal accelerations on the most slippery surfaces. Their work is enhanced by a special rubber compound that gives the tire elasticity at low temperatures, allowing the elements of its tread to fit more tightly to the irregularities on the road surface.
