The Pirelli Winter Ice Sport winter tire is designed for everyday use in regions with very cold climates. On any snowy and icy roads, the model demonstrates comfort in handling, stable traction, the ability to accelerate and brake intensively, as well as reduced rolling resistance, resistance to abrasive wear, low noise and vibration levels.
The tread pattern is distinguished by a "Scandinavian" design with a directional symmetrical arrangement of elements. Its distinctive feature is the presence of a large number of curved and elongated P-shaped block edges, thanks to which the tire on snow demonstrates excellent traction and braking intensity. These properties are practically fully preserved on more slippery icy surfaces. To a significant extent, this is due to the 3D lamellas, with which this tread is literally dotted. They form hundreds of sharpened wave-shaped edges in the contact patch, easily penetrating the water film on the ice. The "three-dimensional" profile of their walls not only fixes the cuts in the open position but also limits the mobility of the blocks, thanks to which, during longitudinal accelerations, more control over the vehicle is ensured. Another factor that determines the increased performance of the tire on icy surfaces is the studs. The steel elements are distinguished by an enlarged base, which limits their inclination when in contact with the road surface, increasing the stability of traction with it. The polished surface of the stud prevents ice crumbs from sticking to it. The insert, which is in direct contact with the road, has a shape with an increased number of edges, which additionally increases the efficiency of its work.
