The Pirelli Winter 210 Snowsport winter tire cannot be attributed to the innovations of the Italian tire industry. Nevertheless, this model still outperforms a significant part of the competitors, thanks to the technologies and materials used in its design. Good grip on ice without studs
Despite the lack of studs, this model demonstrates good performance on ice and packed snow. This is entirely due to the several thousand lamellas cut into all the tread blocks. Their number was significantly increased due to the interlocking design - when opening, the walls of not one lamella, but several, are blocked. This significantly limits the mobility of the block, which has a positive effect not only on the grip on ice, but also on handling.
Wide shoulder zones
Another feature of this tire is the very wide shoulder zones, which together occupy about half of the area of its tread. They are divided into many transverse blocks by drainage grooves. When braking, they, together with the lamellas, reduce the braking distance, and when maneuvering, they improve stability and traction.
Silica II compound
Most of the composition of the tread rubber compound of this model is silica. With its help, Italian tire manufacturers gave it elasticity at low temperatures, as well as increased resistance to any type of wear. It was possible to increase the share of this component in the composition of the compound due to the inclusion of functional polymers.
