The Pirelli Scorpion Winter NCS winter tire is a special version of the namesake model. Its distinguishing feature is the reduced level of low-frequency noise and vibrations, achieved through a modified construction of the inner side of the tire. In all other operating properties, both tires are identical to each other.
The key feature of this model is the presence of a layer of special "poroplastic" on the inner side of the tread. The elastic material with open pores prevents the spread of low-frequency sound waves, scattering them in its structure. This has a positive effect on the acoustic comfort inside the car's cabin.
The tire can have two tread patterns. The most "wide" versions have not two, but four longitudinal drainage channels. This reduces the risk of aquaplaning, and the edges formed by them additionally improve handling. It is worth noting the optimized profile of the tread part of the tread. Thanks to it, under load, the contact patch increases, taking on a nearly square shape that does not change even when maneuvering. As a result, quickness and accuracy in handling are achieved.
