The all-season passenger tire Pirelli Scorpion STR is one of the most successful classic models designed for the widest range of modern passenger cars with increased cross-country capability. Its excellent applicability is ensured by an exceptionally wide range of sizes, including more than 60 sizes with a diameter from 15 to 20 inches. Another distinctive feature of this tire is its versatility, i.e., it allows you to move confidently in any weather conditions and on various types of coverage, while providing a high level of safety.
To a large extent, such characteristics were achieved thanks to the original design of the Pirelli Scorpion STR tread pattern, which used a number of interesting technical solutions. First of all, it is worth noting the structure of the central longitudinal rib, which is characterized by a very rigid construction, which is more typical of conventional passenger tires. Thanks to this, it was possible to provide the tire with a proprietary sporty handling character when driving at high speed.
Another original solution was the use of two rows of combined blocks in the central part of the tread, i.e., consisting of several elements. At the same time, the grooves that divide these blocks into separate parts are located at an acute angle relative to the direction of movement. This design solution made it possible to improve traction and acceleration efficiency, especially on slippery surfaces. In addition, the large number of sharp edges arranged in different directions significantly improved the cross-country capability.
The main features of the Pirelli Scorpion STR tire
- Excellent performance on any type of coverage is provided by the original non-directional tread pattern;
- Excellent directional stability, clear response to steering wheel turns, reduced rolling resistance, thanks to a rigid central rib;
- A multitude of combined blocks in the central part of the tread provide high cross-country capability and excellent acceleration efficiency.
- Wide shoulder areas, consisting of separate blocks, made it possible to achieve excellent stability when cornering, as well as improved cross-country capability when driving on loose and unstable soils;
- Excellent resistance to aquaplaning due to a developed system of longitudinal and transverse drainage channels.
