The Pirelli Scorpion ST summer tire, produced by one of the most renowned Italian manufacturers, is designed for high-performance vehicles that are primarily used on paved roads. This model is available in 25 of the most popular sizes, ranging from 195/80R15 to 255/55R18, which implies a wide range of applications for this tire. Additionally, in some sizes, the tire is available in a Run-Flat modification.
This tire features an S-shaped symmetric tread pattern consisting of five longitudinal ribs, three of which, located in the central part of the tread, are made up of three rows of separate rectangular blocks. This arrangement of tread elements has a number of advantages. In particular, the S-shaped design provides a large contact patch for the Pirelli Scorpion ST tire, which in turn ensures reliable and stable traction on dry asphalt. And the large number of separate blocks in the central part of the tread forms numerous biting edges that effectively grip the slippery surface in all directions.
One of the undeniable advantages of this model is the effective operation of the drainage system, which is also ensured by the large number of separate blocks. Additionally, the sufficient distance between them allows the drainage system to easily remove not only water but also dirt and sand from the contact patch.
Another distinctive feature of this tire is the original design of the shoulder areas of the tread, which consist of massive rectangular blocks. When overcoming muddy sections, these blocks work similarly to off-road tires' traction devices.
