The Italian manufacturer is famous not only for its high-speed tires. Among its range, there are also specialized "mud" models, one of which is the Pirelli Scorpion MUD. The tire is designed for owners of compact and medium-sized SUVs and crossovers, which are often used on rough terrain. At the same time, the model guarantees stable driving characteristics on paved surfaces, providing high precision handling and a smooth ride.
The basis of the tread is separate block structures of an elongated shape. In the central part, they form a double rib, which acts as a stabilizer of directional stability. Due to this, it was possible to optimize control, making the car more maneuverable, including off-road. In combination with the blocks of the shoulder zone, this system provides a high level of traction and traction on soil. Moreover, the separate arrangement of each element has formed an extensive network of open-type channels. Therefore, the tire is also distinguished by its self-cleaning efficiency. The channels themselves have sufficient depth to cope with large water and mud volumes.
An important component of the tread is the compound. In this case, the manufacturer included a significant percentage of silica, as well as many polymer compounds. The result of this modification was the plasticity of the rubber and its increased strength. This had a positive effect on maintaining the shape of the tread elements under load. The result is increased traction properties even in difficult off-road conditions.
Special attention should be paid to the power frame, which is reinforced with several layers of nylon cord. This factor allows withstanding intense impacts, both general and local, without interruption, increasing the lifespan of the tire.
