The all-season passenger tire Pirelli P3000 Cinturato M+S was initially designed for North American buyers. This model is perfectly suited for use on small and medium-sized passenger cars throughout the year.
In creating this tire, the Italian tire makers took the P3000 Energy model as a starting point, which was distinguished by its low weight and excellent grip on various types of surfaces. By borrowing its internal structure almost entirely, this model received a significantly modified S-shaped non-directional symmetric tread pattern, perfectly adapted to the conditions of moderate winter.
The tread pattern consists of five functional zones — longitudinal ribs. At the same time, the shoulder zones have a combined structure, i.e., each of them consists of two longitudinal ribs. Thanks to this scheme of arranging tread elements, it was possible to achieve a large contact patch size and even distribution of external pressure on it. As a result, the tire demonstrates excellent grip on dry roads and high resistance to uneven wear.
To provide directional stability, the specialists of the Italian company equipped the tread of the Pirelli P3000 tire with a very wide central rib, having a solid and very rigid structure. In addition, the solid rib in the center of the tread significantly improved the clarity of the tire's response to steering wheel turns.
Another feature of this model is the intelligent design of the drainage system, which consists not only of longitudinal and transverse water drainage channels but also of special lamellas. The principle of operation of these tread elements is very similar to the functioning of windshield wipers. These lamellas, when driving on a wet road, "wipe" water from the contact patch into the drainage grooves, through which it is then removed to the outside.
Main features of the Pirelli P3000 model
- Optimized S-shaped design of the symmetric tread pattern provides excellent performance on various types of surfaces;
- A large number of tread blocks forms many sharp edges, due to which the tire demonstrates excellent grip on slippery roads;
- A five-rib scheme for arranging tread elements, thanks to which it was possible to ensure large contact patch sizes and even distribution of external load on it;
- Effective operation of the drainage system is ensured by a combination of longitudinal and transverse water drainage channels and special lamellas.
