The Pirelli PZero Rosso Direzionale summer tire is designed primarily for premium-class vehicles. This is indicated by the size range, which includes only five 18 and 19 inch sizes.
The symmetrical directional tread pattern of the tire is made in a V-shaped design, which is a bit inconsistent with the modern trend of asymmetrical patterns for summer tires. In other respects, this tire has all the latest developments of this leading Italian tire manufacturer. In particular, at the very center of the tread, there is a double longitudinal rib with a solid and very rigid structure. Due to this solution, it was possible to provide the tire with excellent directional stability and clear responses to steering wheel turns. Two adjacent ribs are divided by diagonal channels into separate blocks, thanks to which the tire demonstrates refined reactions to understeer.
In addition, the diagonal channels, which have an elliptical shape, contribute to the accelerated removal of water from the contact patch. Together, this has given excellent grip when cornering and driving in rainy conditions. However, the basis of the tire's Pirelli PZero Rosso drainage system is four longitudinally arranged grooves, the large width and depth of which provide the tire with excellent resistance to aquaplaning.
Unlike many competitors, the shoulder areas of the tread of this tire cannot boast of a large width. However, thanks to this solution, handling has acquired the characteristic features of the character, by which the products of this Italian manufacturer can be unmistakably identified. Due to the relatively small width of the shoulder areas, it was possible to increase the stiffness of this element of the tread, which, in turn, led to an improvement in handling when driving in an aggressive style.
Key features of Pirelli PZero Rosso
- excellent grip in dry and rainy weather is provided by the optimized V-shaped design of the symmetrical directional tread pattern;
- excellent directional stability and instant response to steering wheel turns, thanks to the very rigid structure of the double central rib;
- exceptional resistance to aquaplaning is provided by the high efficiency of the tire's drainage system, which consists of four longitudinal and numerous transverse grooves.
