The Pirelli Dragon summer tire was specially created for Japanese tuning enthusiasts. Its range of sizes includes quite exotic dimensions, leaving no doubt about the true purpose of this tire.
Like a premium-class model, this tire features a directional tread pattern with a very aggressive asymmetric design, fully consistent with the "fire-breathing" name. The tread pattern is divided into two main functional zones, each of which provides safety in certain driving modes. The inner side of the tread is responsible for cornering speed and resistance to aquaplaning. As for the outer side, it provides excellent directional stability.
One of the distinctive features of the Pirelli Dragon tire is its exceptional braking efficiency, which was achieved thanks to two solid longitudinal ribs located in the central part of the tread. At the same time, one of them is very large in size.
It is also impossible not to note the excellent resistance of the tire to aquaplaning. This is entirely due to the highly efficient drainage system, which consists of a large number of longitudinal and transverse channels. The longitudinal channels are mainly designed for water collection, and the transverse channels are for its removal beyond the contact patch. Since the longitudinal grooves are large in size, and the transverse grooves are numerous, the drainage system has very high performance, which allows it to cope with its direct duties even at very high speeds. It is also worth noting the presence of curved water-draining channels on the inner side. This shape is highly conducive to preventing the formation of whirlpools in water flows, which significantly increases the speed of water circulation.
