Released by one of the most dynamically developing Chinese tire brands, the non-studded winter tire Ovation Wintermaster is primarily designed for compact passenger cars used mainly in urban conditions.
The design of the non-directional symmetric tread pattern of the Ovation Wintermaster tire can be characterized as original. The tread pattern consists of five ribs, each of which consists of individually standing blocks of different shapes and sizes. In the central part of the tread, there are three rows of blocks that form three longitudinal ribs. This solution made it possible to achieve several goals at once.
Firstly, due to the close arrangement of small-sized blocks, it was possible to ensure a larger contact patch area, which had a beneficial effect on the traction and coupling characteristics on dry roads. Secondly, the large number of blocks forms a multitude of sharp edges for grip, thereby improving coupling on snowy surfaces. Thirdly, the carefully selected distance between the blocks provided the tire with excellent water and slush drainage efficiency from the contact patch.
In addition, it is impossible not to note the special configuration of the blocks located in the central part of the tread. Due to their shape, it was possible to form an S-shaped structure of the element arrangement. This solution provided the tire with a high level of comfort and high resistance to lateral skidding, making movement on slippery roads comfortable and safe.
