Description Novion SS-159
Novion SS-159 — a motorcycle tire of diagonal construction, developed exclusively for off-road use. The tire is not designed for asphalt concrete, its element is dirt roads, mud, sand, and forest roads. The model is designed for the rear axle of cross-country motorcycles and is released in a chamber version.
Proven stiffness for impact loads
Here, a diagonal arrangement of cord threads (usually nylon or polyester) with a crossing angle of 30-40° is used. This architecture provides two key advantages:
- increased resistance to punctures and cuts;
- minimal "spreading" of the contact patch — when accelerating sharply on loose soil, the tire maintains a predictable shape.
Aggressive off-road traction
The special shape and structure of the tread has its own specificity. Wide drainage channels instantly evacuate dirt, sand, or water from the contact patch. The sharp edges of the blocks ensure traction on uneven terrain during acceleration and braking. Reinforced shoulder areas resist "folding" during deep lean turns. The consequence is confident acceleration on climbs and stable braking on descents.
Balance between traction and wear
The hardness of the rubber compound is classified as "medium-soft". Elasticity is maintained at positive summer temperatures, as well as in cool weather (in autumn or in the morning). The increased silica content improves traction on wet surfaces, but without excessive reduction in wear resistance.
Handling on dirt surfaces
The rear tire provides a dosed skid when opening the gas, characteristic of an experienced cross. Thanks to its stiffness and diagonal construction, the skid occurs smoothly, without sudden "plunging". On hard soils, the tire shows tenacity on arcs, and on soft soils, it has a self-digging effect due to frequent traction.
Key features of Novion SS-159:
- the model is designed for cross-country trails, forests, and quarries;
- increased resistance to punctures and cuts, characteristic of classic cross-tires for the rear axle;
balance between traction on clay and acceptable wear resistance on rocky terrain;
- aggressive off-road traction provides excellent traction on soft and medium-dense off-road surfaces.
