Description Novion SS-100B
Novion SS-100B — a model for the rear wheel of cross motorcycles. It's an "attacking" tire, sharpened for maximum traction and directional stability at high speeds.
Control Formula
The increased width of 140 mm in combination with a low profile of 80% is an engineering choice. Casting such a blank requires precision molding, as the ratio of width to height is critical for the contact patch. The wide flat profile provides:
- maximum contact area during acceleration;
- predictable feedback when deeply leaned.
This solution is ideal for tracks with a solid base and dense rolled earth.
Block Isolation
The pattern is a classic cross-country design, but with important nuances. Large, isolated blocks without longitudinal connections work like individual ground hooks. When rotating, each block "bites" into loose soil, sand, or grassy cover, creating a traction vector. Deep grooves between them are a self-cleaning system. Even on heavy clay or wet soil, the centrifugal force instantly throws off the stuck dirt.
Carcass and Power Cord
Unlike road tires with a multi-layer structure, a single-layer cord is used here. Its advantages:
- lightness — reduces unsprung masses;
- flexibility — the carcass easily deforms on unevenness, not transmitting a rigid impact to the suspension;
- tensile strength — withstands sharp jerks when slipping and landing.
Key Features of Novion SS-100B:
- increased contact patch provides maximum contact area on rolled grounds and solid surfaces, reducing wheel spin during acceleration;
- block isolation of the tread — large independent ground hooks with deep grooves provide self-cleaning from dirt;
- single-layer cord reduces weight, increases flexibility, and withstands sharp loads during jumps and landings without deformation;
- high elasticity of the compound and the ability to "envelope" unevenness provide excellent grip on dry and slightly wet tracks.
