Summer tire for SUVs Nokian Nordman S SUV, despite being introduced quite recently, is not a new model. It was created based on another model from the Finnish manufacturer HT SUV. The main difference between the copy and the "original" is the use of less expensive materials and production technologies. As shown by the experience of other models released under the Nordman brand, this feature is hardly noticeable in real operating conditions, which cannot be said about the cost. It is significantly lower than that of the "originals", which has determined the popularity of both this tire and other tire products of the Nordman brand.
As for this particular model, it is favorably distinguished from numerous competitors by its adaptability to operation on rough road surfaces, which are typical for Northern Europe and Russian regions located near the Arctic Circle. In such conditions, it demonstrates good traction properties in any conditions, regardless of speed, comfort while driving, refined handling, and, of course, increased wear resistance.
Effective tread pattern
In an effort to give the Nordman S SUV tire maximum efficiency, Finnish tire manufacturers preferred to choose a tread pattern with an asymmetric arrangement of elements. Its versatility is due to the presence of several functional zones, each of which provides certain operational properties, which is why the elements of the tread are arranged asymmetrically. This tire has two of them - the outer and inner sides.
The outer side of the tread is distinguished by the presence of very massive and rigid elements that are resistant to multidirectional acceleration forces. This allows the tire to maintain stability and provide reliable traction when turning, as well as effectively transmit traction and braking forces to the road surface when accelerating and decelerating.
In turn, the inner side of the tread provides, first of all, directional stability at high speeds, quickness and accuracy in response to steering wheel turns, as well as resistance to aquaplaning. For these purposes, a very wide longitudinal rib is located here, to which a large number of small tread blocks and numerous drainage grooves are attached.
"Stone removers"
In addition to diverting water from the contact patch, the drainage grooves perform other functions. In particular, they prevent stones and other foreign objects from getting stuck in them. They are simply pushed out thanks to special elements located at the bottom of the longitudinal drainage grooves in the central part of the tread. This significantly increases the reliability of the tire and extends its service life.
Confident behavior on dirt roads
Belonging to the "highway" category H/T, this model, nevertheless, allows you to confidently move outside of asphalt roads. This ability is provided by the design of the shoulder areas of the tread. Their outer side contains numerous dirt-grabbing elements of rectangular and triangular shape, forming numerous traction edges and improving the tire's passability on earth and sand surfaces.

Good tread life. Holds corners and hasn't caught aquaplaning. Performs well on light off-road terrain in the forest. Not too much noise, but there's some. Visually nice. Downsides: small gravel stubbornly gets into the tread pattern, and wear seems more than on the forest tire. But I think you have to pay for reliability. Wear resistance is around 60-70 thousand km. That's around three seasons of use for me. You have to press a bit

I used to buy in Finke before it was called Nokian Hakka S SUV, made in Finland, size 235/55/18. I chose it for a protector, to drive 80% of the asphalt and 20% of light off-road. It rides on asphalt and dirt roads with a 5+, there is a slight noise present. For fishing, muds, springs and autumns I have ATs 235/70/16, and for winter I

I spent a long time choosing, and ended up with the middle-of-the-road Nordman S, which was preceded by the Hakka H. The first impressions are that the tire is noticeably softer, balances well, and is quieter. After two seasons of use, I can say that the following is true: the tire's wear is uneven, and I do it every year, but due to the wheel bearing failure, one of the wheels had to be replaced at 30,000 km, and
