Nokian WR A4
Tire specifications
DescriptionDescription Nokian WR A4
The development of the Nokian WR A4 winter tire took around 4 years. Like its popular predecessor, this model is designed for Central and Western European countries, where winter climate conditions are more than specific. For this reason, it demonstrates its strongest sides on wet asphalt and on snow, and the rubber compound of its tread is designed for operation at temperatures around zero degrees Celsius.
One of the key innovations of the novelty is the Functional Performance Siping tread lamination technology. Its essence lies in the use of several types of lamellas at once, each of which, together with the blocks, performs a certain range of functions.
Another difference from the previous generation model is the design of the shoulder area from the outside of the tread. It contains many transverse blocks with high structural rigidity, connected to each other by special bridges. Such a multi-component structure works as a whole, which increases the stability of the tire when gaining speed. Additionally, this property is enhanced by self-locking 3D lamellas, which also improve the responsiveness of the steering.
In the central part of the tread, there is a continuous longitudinal rib, the shape of which, due to the many blocks, resembles a centipede. Moreover, Centipede Siping lamellas are cut into these elements. They increase the size of the contact patch, forming many additional gripping edges that improve the tire's performance during acceleration.
Key features of Nokian WR A4
- Functional Performance Siping tread lamination technology improves almost all basic characteristics of the tire;
- the multifunctional longitudinal rib in the center improves traction on slippery roads, directional stability, steering responsiveness, and fuel efficiency;
- wide blocks in the shoulder area on the outside of the tread provide reliable and stable behavior during braking and maneuvering.

Nokian Tyres Nordman RS2 in the required size 245/40/R17 is unfortunately nowhere to be found - so the choice fell on these Nokian WR A4 245/45/R17 tires
in the front of the car, I have RS2 225/50/R17 (I've been driving on this type of tire for 5 winters already) (4th set)
but for the rear, for winter driving, I decided to buy wider 245 tires. The price and quality are excellent) the noise is very low, on Moscow's icy roads (frozen reagents) they
can't handle more than 150-200 moments, and the stabilization starts flashing, but on dry or snowy roads, there are no issues) ideal rear tires for driving on dry roads with the car's passport-approved acceleration (the car has 270 horsepower and 450 moments)
for the rear axle of a rear-wheel drive car, it's very good) I'm satisfied)- Vehicle:
