The Nokian PowerProof summer tire is designed for compact and medium-sized passenger cars. It stands out for its improved grip on wet surfaces, comfort, and precise handling, especially at high speeds.
The tread pattern is divided into two parts. The outer side provides handling on dry surfaces, while the inner side provides grip properties in wet conditions. In the first case, the declared properties are ensured due to the rigidity of the tread elements, which are practically not deformed under the influence of multidirectional acceleration forces. In turn, the inner side is distinguished by a trapezoidal shape of the longitudinal drainage grooves and their large volume. The adjacent transverse water-draining elements have a curved shape, which further reduces the risk of aquaplaning.
The tread is made of a Dynamic Grip rubber compound, which is arranged in two layers. The upper one contains special polymers that provide elasticity and tensile strength to the tread at the molecular level. The inner layer is characterized by higher rigidity and thermal conductivity. This gives the tire stable grip properties, reduces heat generation at high speeds, and thereby reduces rolling resistance.
