The summer tire Nokian NRVi was developed with consideration for the operating conditions of passenger cars in European countries, which is reflected in a specific set of operational properties inherent to this model. All of them, to a greater or lesser extent, relate to the traction properties on a wet road, reliability, fuel efficiency, and durability. It is these features that favorably distinguish this tire from numerous competitors.
Increased silica content
A characteristic feature of the rubber mixture used in the production of the tire's tread is a very high silica content. To increase the volume of this component, Finnish tire manufacturers used the capabilities of modern polymeric compounds, which allowed them to give the compound homogeneity, strengthening the molecular-level connections between all substances that make up its composition. The ultimate result of such machinations was not only a significant increase in traction properties on wet roads, but also a reduced level of heat generation, as well as excellent resistance of the tread to ruptures when driving at high speeds.
Fan-shaped tread pattern
The tire's tread pattern is also adapted for operation at high speeds. It is distinguished by an asymmetric fan-shaped design, consisting of several functional zones. Its shoulder zones provide tread performance during braking and maneuvering, for which massive transverse blocks are located in them. In turn, the central part contains a multitude of triangular blocks. Their long curved edges improve traction during acceleration, and the drainage grooves passing between them – increased resistance to aquaplaning.
